Biography

Considered one of the most important Spanish violinists of his generation, Antonio García (1989) has given concerts in China, the United States, Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Spain and Lithuania, among others.

Born in Cieza, he graduated from the Murcia Conservatory, under the tutelage of Concepción Fernández, Vicente Cobacho and Joaquín Palomares. He continued his studies at the prestigious Mozarteum University in Salzburg, at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels, and in Vienna, with Professor Boris Kuschnir.

From this time, he won first prizes in the Molina de Segura contests, the International Festival of Youth Orchestras and the “Ciudad de Xátiva” national contest for young performers, in which he was also awarded the scholarship of the contest.

He has also been distinguished by the Murcia Pro Music Association as "Pro Musician of the Year 2012" for his career as a musician in the field of solo music and chamber music, and has obtained the 2012 grant from the Galindo de Calasparra Foundation.

 

Along with the development of his concert and pedagogical career, Antonio has also developed his facet as an orchestral musician, playing for 5 seasons in the prestigious Orquesta de la Comunidad Valenciana del Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, co-directed by Lorin Maazel and Zubin Metha, for the one that the most prominent personalities of the direction parade, both in symphonic concerts and in opera performances.

It has been under the direction of directors such as Valery Gergiev, George Pretre, Ricardo Chailly, Vladimir Jurowski, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Omer Meir Wellber, Nicola Luisotti, Plácido Domingo, among others.

He has recorded the opera Bohème with the Valencian Community Orchestra, under the direction of Ricardo Chailly; Tchaikovsky's Onegin; arias by G. Verdi performed by Plácido Domingo; "Paris Mon amour" performed by Sonya Yoncheva, etc.

 

In August 2015 he obtained a position, by opposition, in the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, and recently he has won, by opposition, the position of Professor of violin at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Murcia. In addition, he is a guest concertmaster of the Murcia Region Symphony Orchestra.

As a result of his vitalistic and multifaceted character, he has not only devoted himself to his interpretive and pedagogical work, but he has also carried out the organization of great chamber music festivals that are today international references.
